Timing Recovery in Magnetic Recording Systems

چکیده

Timing recovery is a crucial component in a magnetic recording channel detector. Conventional timing recovery techniques are sufficient only when operating at high signalto-noise ratio (SNR). However, iterative error-correction codes allow reliable operation at very low SNR, where conventional techniques fail. In this paper, we summarize the timing recovery schemes based on a per-survivor processing technique that are capable of working at low SNR. Results indicate that they perform better than conventional schemes.
